Manipulative favors

I won't miss She's assumptions without questions to find out the answers. ex. She is going away for a couple of weeks. She asked if I could watch her 4 legged pet - if She could leave it at my place so it would have company. I said sure. 2 days before She leaves She casually mentions that She can't find them at the moment but wants to leave me keys to She's apt while She is gone. Suprised, I said "I can't think of any reason I would need to get into your apartment while you are away". She said "Oh. I wanted you to give you the keys so you could check on my fish to see if they are doing ok. I left a timed feeding thing in their tank so they don't need to be fed, but one of the fish is swimming at a list and I thought you could check in on him". I said "And if he is not doing well, what would _I_ do?" A: "You could call me and I could talk you through things". Things? What "things"? Fish CPR? Cleaning the tank? Fish illness diagnosis? She never even ASKED if I could check on the fish - just assumed I would be willing to. How impolite.

Negativity - free at last.

I won't miss She's negativity.

Here's an example. She recently bought a new car. The *first* new car She has ever owned. Definately a cause for celebration, a fun and novel and long awaited experience, right? Well, She couldn't get the color She wanted in time in the model She wanted so She settled for one of She's second choices that She wasn't sure She liked. When She told me about the second choice being the only one available She said "I wish I had picked a different second choice". I suggested She think about which color she really wanted and if she liked her other second color best to tell them She wanted She's other 2nd instead. She said She would think about it. Today after She actually picked up the car (taking the 2nd choice color She was still second guessing) I asked how She liked it - She said She wasn't sure, She missed features She had in She's last vehicle, and she just read the consumer reports review of the vehicle which panned it pretty badly and said it was an uncomfortable car. I asked if SHE thought it was uncomfortable, She said She wasn't sure if they were or She was just being influenced by what She read. I suggested She get the vehicle that had the features she wanted for the extra few dollars a month because if She wasn't going to be happy with the new vehicle without those features it was worth the extra $10/month. She called back later and said She was getting the model She really liked in her _original color_ and sounded much more happy. Still trying to be supportive, positive friend guy I said she sounded happier than She did before and that I was glad She had made a decision that made She happier. She's response was "well, I'll see how I feel on Friday after I get the car".

Really, now _I_ am pretty negative about lots and lots of things, but how much negativity can one person exude? Ah well, at least it's no longer directed towards *me* - it's kind of freeing to realize that all kinds of things make her unhappy, that even in the midst of a happy exciting event She can find something to be unhappy about. It's freeing to realize that everything She was unhappy about in the marriage wasn't all *me* related - I think even a lot of the things She blamed me or held me responsible for in terms of unhappiness probably weren't _really even me related_. Some were of course and were validly aimed my way, but in retrospect now I think most of it was not. I am free!

Insensitivity

I won't miss She's insensitivity. Ex? She called and said She and our child might be stopping by the house to pick up something our child left there. I said fine. After I hung up I realized that I *might* have left a porn DVD case on top of the DVD player. I called back and left a msg letting her know there might be some "inappropriate for kid" material on or around the DVD player. She called back later (after being at the house) and first thing She said was "Ah the carefree life of the bachelor, it must be nice..." I said "What?" She said "It must be nice to watch whatever you want whenever you want". Right, that's what I wanted in life when I married her or is an ultimate goal in life, to live by myself and watch porn because there's no one in my life I am intimate with. Yep, that's the life for me. Wow, what a great life! Thanks so much for reminding me how lucky I am!

Two more things I won't miss (I may have mentioned these before)

I won't miss how whenever we drove anywhere She always wanted all the windows up. Didn't matter the temp inside the car or outside the car She always had to have windows up. Not just mostly up but ALL the way up - said the noise gave She a headache. No barrelling down the highway at 65mph (down route 128 past the stop and shop) with the windows open and the radio on - no, with She it was always riding in a hermetically sealed box breathing conditioned air.

Another thing I won't miss? She's food dilletantism - She always (except for sushi and even then sometimes) ordered more than She could eat at restaurants - it didn't matter how expensive the restaurant was or how little cash we had in our pocket, She always ordered more than She could eat. It wasn't enough that we were going out for an expensive meal we couldn't really afford, no somehow she either chose to order more food then she could possible eat or somehow in 30+ years of eating was completely clueless about how much she could actually eat. Often She wouldn't take leftovers home either (non sushi ones I mean). When She did take leftovers home they often didn't get eaten and ended up being thrown away.
