Trashing the house

Getting the house ready for house showings. Had to clean up all the shit from She and her contractor handyman friends. Dust and dirt everywhere, bits of projects in almost everyroom. She leaves a wake of detritus and tools everywhere She goes. Cans of paint, drop cloths, unattached curtains, screws for said curtains, plug face plates, paint trays with paint and rollers still in them (with cats in the house), trash, food on plates, etc... I actually wish She had left more tools out, because since the contractors left I can find exactly ONE screwdriver in the entire house - I had at least a half-dozen, pliers are missing both regular and needlenose, wire-cutters are missing, and I just can't find stuff that I know I had. I wonder if She is just "borrowing" things as she needs them without asking - feeling She has a right to things. I am so looking forward to living in a place that She has no claim on or to, and more importantly no key to.

More mess

White dust from sanding is all over everything, everything in the kitchen, over my stereo in the bedroom, over the floors in every room, on shelves in the living room, on the TV, ALL over things in the basement - obviously things were NOT covered before sanding started. All over my albums, my books. In the cat food, in their water. etc, etc. Yesterday I found food out on the counter, beer cans in the trash (Recycle people, it IS 2004 - She KNOWS I feel strongly about recycling and the recycling bin is 10 feet away from the trash), and mud all over the floor.

Hubris and mess

The contractors (young 20 something friends) She hired punctured one of the water pipes when screwing in drywall. It took them 4 hours to get someone to fix it. cost only $50 but we paid, not them. She said she knew dad could come over and fix it but that she thought it was probably good that they have to fix it themselves. So now we are employing contractors to teach them important life lessons? great. If they really want to learn the consequences of their actions _they_ should have eaten the cost of the repairs.
[update: She said that they did eat the cost of the repairs. I take back my earlier harsher comments]

The basement is in shambles. We have mice and three cats and someone left a dirty plate down there, along with an open container of cookies. The other day I noticed that She had helped herself to a beer from the fridge, in fact to the remainder of a 6-pack that was in there (probably only 2, maybe 3) without asking. I bought that beer months after She moved out - I am not much of a beer drinker but it was my beer. Later that day She said that she bought some beer for the guys and left it downstairs for them when they came back to fix the leak - then said "help yourself if you want some". Wow, how generous, She finishes off my beer without asking and without even mentioning it and then offers me one of She's beers. I hate her shit beers. Such generosity.

The living room is a shambles, She pulled everything away from the walls to paint and I can't find anything. The remotes are all lost. Piles of papers I had seperated are all mashed together. Unliveable. Somehow I doubt She will put things back. She also took all the curtain fixtures down, I will be amazed if she puts them back up.

[update 3 months later after the house has been sold. I put the curtain fixtures back up, I cleaned up the mess, the VCR remote and the missing tools never turned up]

Assuming She can take whatever She wants

There were canvas and woodframe walls in the basement that were recently taken down by me (they were also assembled by _me_, the canvas was bought by She for a family project at a time when She was out of work). She asked today if I had gotten rid of the canvas. I said no I saved it for projects. She said, "Good because I wanted to hang onto that". I said we could split it. She didn't reply. I hate that She seems to feel She is entitled to anything She personally bought whether for her or family or house or whatever when we were married. Our incomes were not equal, I made way more than she did even when she _was_ working which was only about 1/2 the time. What right does She have to feel any of those mutual purchases belong to only to her? I don't mind splitting the purchases or divvying them up, but She gets to take things because She "bought them" because She was the one with more time on her hands because She wasn't working so could hit the stores? Not bloody likely. What an unfair person she is.

WTF?

Today in a conversation She asked when I would be home this evening. I replied that I was usually home before 9pm on Tuesdays. She laughed. When I asked why She laughed She said it just sounded funny, as She was expecting 6 or 6:30. That might be a reasonable thing for someone to think if we hadn't been married for 4 years during which I had the same hours - I left work at 5:30pm and the fact that my commute is well over an hour in length there is NO way I could possibly be home by 6:30 unless I left early, the fact of which ( my lateness at getting home in the evening) was a _constant_ source of conflict between us. What drugs is She on? Or perhaps She has just forgotten me and everything about our disastrous shared life experience in the past 6 months? Wow, either way I envy She.
